So far, the Preview pane in XYplorer seems to be limited to a horizontal split, rather than a vertical split (at least I haven't found a way to change it yet in my brief preview). I can then have open another app, such as my web editor, and quickly copy details from the image or text that is open, and then move to the next file. However, one of the ways I use Xplorer2 a lot is to have the right pane be a list of files, and then I do a Preview of the images and text documents, which appears in the left pane. However, I like the file details provided in the preview pane of XYplorer, and the lifetime license is great.

I am always leery of "lifetime" licenses for various reasons.
Just customizing it and exploring options will keep you busy and give you an idea of the wealth of functionality that this program has.
This program is definitely worth trying out, and give yourself time to really explore it. There are soooo many functions that are so useful, like the batch renaming, that I really did not make much use of before I started using Xyplorer. I use the "favorites" folders/files functions all the time. It is great for when I am constantly moving files around. My primary workspace has two panes with two to three tabs in each pane, and I go back and forth, depending on what I am working on. I love the customizability, the small footprint, speed (esp search), and the list goes on. There are quite a few functions that Xyplorer is my go-to program for. Tazzie I can't say enough good about this program!!! My all-time favorite file manager is Directory Opus, but Xyplorer runs a very very close second, which says a lot for it.
